Family Time

Wednesday morning we left Iluka, where it was still raining, and headed to Murwillumbah which was only a few hours away. Our caravan park for the next three night was Greenhills.

Murwillumbah is a town with very tight streets, it’s like a step back in time but has a lot of character and is in a beautiful country setting. The caravan park itself was quite old but clean. Quickly, we made friends with the locals of the park. As we were staying three nights our setup was more comfortable for us. There was no rain for the first two nights but by Friday when the food fair was on it rained heaps.

My brother, Scott lives in Murwillumbah with his wife Kylie and three children, Brock 16 plays soccer, Ashley 13 plays football, Madalon 6 who entertained us all and Wilson the dog who is only one and full of life. It was lovely to see them all as it has been a few years since we have been together in person.

Kylie and I went to Yoga Thursday morning which was excellent and set us up for the day ahead. After morning tea with Murray, back at the camper, the next place of interest was the Tweed River Art Gallery with the most beautiful views over the Tweed Valley to Mount Warning. The artwork here was amazing. Famous local artist Margaret Ollie’s exhibition of the interior of her house was fascinating. This was somewhere well worth visiting. No photos were allowed to be taken inside though.

Madalon came and spent time with us in the afternoon while her brothers went to training. Then the family joined us for a fire and homemade hamburgers in the caravan park. image

Friday Kylie, Murray and I had an easy morning. We window shopped and lunched in Murwillumbah. Afterwards we took a lovely drive through the countryside to Uki, another step back in time, quite hippyish but had a lot of character. Football and pizza was our choice of Friday night entertainment due to the rain. We had plenty of laughs while with the Hazzards and enjoyed our family time.

Packing up Saturday was a wet one but we managed. Next stop for us would be Robina on the Gold Coast.
