Well, it has been a busy few days since our return from Mt Surprise on Monday.
Tuesday morning was all about the washing, getting it all up to date for the boys and ourselves. The boys took a drive out to Jess and Matt’s property in Mareeba, called Blue Sky Produce. They grow mangoes, passionfruit, limes and avocados to sell on the market. The kids were thrilled to see the boys again and didn’t want them to leave when the time came, Lexi even offered them a sleepover and Toby wanted to know “Where are WE going?” How cute are they!
Wednesday came too soon. I had to go to Atherton to organise my driver’s licence renewal in NSW which was due on 2nd July, hence I can’t do any driving till I get my new one. The boys packed up to return home. Murray, Rus, Andrew and Simon left after lunch to take grandad to his eye appointment and drop the boys at the airport. I shed a couple of tears when saying goodbye to my boys again, three weeks till we return home and I see them again, will go quickly I’m sure. Grandma and I stayed home and I completed our packing.
Now, here we are it’s Thursday morning and we are on the road again. After some final goodbyes to Rus and Gladys we are on our way to complete the journey we started and enjoy the rest of our adventure together. Our route for today will take us back through Mt Surprise and west towards the gulf. Lots of big road trains up here and long, straight, not always wide, roads. We will free camp outside Georgetown tonight at an old mine, Cumberland Historic Mine site. Tomorrow, Friday we set off for Karumba, in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Till the next post, cheers xo.
