My morning begins with my first thought…..

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “First Light.”

After reading my emails and coming across one from Inspiring Max, in response to the above prompt, I decided that my blogging block had been unblocked and felt the need to write a post straight away on this subject.

My first thought of the day is always …yoga.

I almost jump out of bed at the thought of my regular yoga practice each morning at around 6.15. Before I take off I do my regular stretches to get everything moving, make the bed and trundle out to our back room where the birds are peacefully still asleep. I don’t uncover them or that will be the end of the quiet.

As the DVD, Radiance Yoga, slides into the PlayStation, I set up my mats and, sit with legs crossed, breathing in and out through my nose, concentrating on relaxing and breathing deeper with each breath ready release my muscles and get into my first stretch. Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga and I love it. Moving through  ‘Downward Dogs’ and lunges feeling more flexible with each movement and every breath. Into warrior poses, tree poses, cobra poses, planks and spinal twists, feeling stronger with each pose or movement, as well as fresher.

Then, my favourite pose at the end,  ‘Shavasana’, corpse pose, where I get to lie on the floor and relax everything with deep breathing, concentrating on refreshing my body ready to take on the day ahead.

That’s it, my half hour of me time before I get into the rest of my day. My body feels fresher, it thanks me for its renewed energy and I thank it. We are ready to take on anything.  I then enjoy breakfast of yoghurt and fruit and a relaxing green mint tea with my little feathered friends chatting around me while my boys get ready for work.

By 8.15 I hit the pavement and walk to school to take on my next daily challenge of being an aide in a classroom full of six year olds.

Whats your first thought of the day? Is it exercise, food, work or something else? Are you happy, excited or anxious? Just remember to be positive.

Namaste x
